FAQ

What Is Baptism?

At Church360, we believe baptism is a powerful next step for anyone who has surrendered their life to Christ.

Baptism is a public way to proclaim your faith in Jesus. It represents His death, burial, and resurrection—and through it, we declare our complete trust that Jesus died for us, was placed in the grave, and rose again three days later.

It’s also a celebration of the personal transformation that takes place when we accept Jesus’ gift of salvation. When you say “yes” to Jesus, you are completely forgiven and invited to walk in freedom and new life—empowered by the Holy Spirit.

We’re not saved by baptism—we’re saved by grace through faith in Jesus (Ephesians 2:8-9). But baptism is a beautiful and symbolic way of showing that salvation has already occurred.

Why Should I Be Baptized?

Because Jesus was, and He calls us to follow Him in every way.

Jesus was baptized, and then instructed His followers to baptize others as a step of obedience and commitment (Matthew 28:19–20). When we choose baptism, we’re saying, “I’m all in. I belong to Jesus.”

It’s also a way of going public with your decision to turn away from sin and toward a new life with Jesus (Acts 2:38–41).

Baptism isn’t about having everything figured out. It’s about surrendering to the One who gave everything for you.

When Should I Be Baptized?

As soon as you’ve placed your faith in Jesus.

The only requirement for baptism is believing that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for your sins, and that He rose again to give you new life (Acts 2:41). If you’ve made the decision to follow Him, then you’re ready!

Why Do We Baptize by Immersion?

We baptize by full immersion in water because that’s how Jesus was baptized, and it beautifully illustrates what’s happening spiritually (Matthew 3:16).

• Going under the water represents being buried with Christ—leaving behind your old self and sin.

• Coming out of the water symbolizes being raised to new life, just as Jesus rose from the grave (Romans 6:3-5).

It’s a bold and beautiful picture of transformation and the new identity we have in Christ.

Do You Baptize Children?

Yes—when they’re ready.

We baptize children who are able to clearly express their own decision to follow Jesus and understand what baptism means (Romans 10:9, Acts 10:47-48).

Parents, you play a vital role in guiding and talking to your child about faith, but the decision is theirs to make when they’re ready.

Our team leads a once a month Kids baptism class to help with this conversation.

What Happens During My Baptism?

Here’s what to expect:

• You’ll be asked: “Do you believe that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior?”

• You’ll respond: “YES”

• Then the person baptizing you will say: “I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”

You’ll be gently lowered into the water and raised up again—a beautiful symbol of dying to your old self and rising to new life in Christ.

Do I Need to Be Baptized Again?

You only need to be baptized once after making your own decision to follow Jesus.

If you were baptized as a baby or before you understood what it meant, we invite you to be baptized now as an intentional act of faith and obedience.

If you’ve already been baptized but are coming back to your faith after a difficult season, you don’t need to be baptized again. A better next step is to plug into community and begin growing again.

Who Can Baptize Me?

Anyone you know who’s a follower of Jesus and has been baptized themselves—a family member, friend, small group leader, volunteer or someone on our staff team.

When and Where Do Baptisms Happen?

The water is always ready!

We have a beautiful outdoor baptistery that’s available every weekend and throughout the week. In addition, we host baptism celebration weekends multiple times a year where you can be baptized alongside others taking this powerful step of faith.

But you don’t have to wait. We’ll baptize anywhere there’s water—a pool, a lake, even a backyard tub. No matter where you live, our team is here to help you take this next step in following Jesus.

What Should I Wear?

We’ve got you covered—literally!

Whenever you’re ready to be baptized, we have everything you need:

• A Church360 Baptism T-shirt (yours to keep)

Shorts, underwear, and towels

Just come ready to respond to what God is doing in your life—we’ll take care of the rest.
